Cross Country Vehicle Trials

Enter

This type of event is a trial for vehicles fitted with the facility for 4WD suitable for cross country use (not including 4WD cars). The events are designed to be non damaging to both vehicle and driver however in general most of the vehicles are used solely for trials and are not in use on a daily basis for personal transport. Speed is not an element in the competition.

The course itself is split into a total of 4 sections and generally 4 sections are completed in the morning followed by 4 in the afternoon with a break for lunch.

The sections are quite simply a drive around, through and over either man made or natural objects/obstructions for example ridges, bumps, rocks and ruts. At each section are a set of gates or posts through which the competitor must drive through without stopping. Points from 10 to 0 are awarded to where the competitor ceases forward motion whilst not disturbing any of the gates. This type of event is run to the RAC Blue Book safety regulations.

Competitive Safari

Different to the Trial the Competitive Safari can be run over a few miles and combines both speed and the ability to clear a series of posts, bumps, humps and rivers, all at speed. Competitors are set off over a course of a given distance generally at one minute intervals, their time taken to complete the course is collated and any penalties are added. Generally their will be a total of 8 runs, 4 in the morning and 4 in the afternoon. This type of event is run to the RAC Blue Book safety regulations.

Road Taxed Vehicles Trials

Enter

Similar to the Cross Country Trial the main difference is that your vehicle must be road taxed and road going. The event is designed to give 4x4 drivers the opportunity to use their vehicles in an off road environment.

Green Lane Runs

These events are for the members, families and friends and take the form of a day out in the country in the family 4x4. The club will arrange with the Land Owners for a number of our members and their vehicles to use roads, tracks and forest roads which would not normally be open for general use. These runs are non competitive, are intended to be non damaging to your vehicles, and all that will be required after the event is a visit to your nearest jet wash. A packed lunch is essential for a Green Lane Run Event.

Prize Giving

A prize giving is held after each event, usually in the nearest pub otr hotel to the event location, offering members and friends a chance to chat, discuss the days driving, and to meet each other in a relaxed atmosphere.

Event Times

Events are usually run on the first Sunday of each month, however information will be sent to all members in the Clubs "SRs". Generally scruitineering is between 10:00 am and 11:00 am with the morning section run from 11:00 to 13:00, folled by lunch until 14:00. The afternoon sections run from 14:00 to 16:00. The prize giving takes place after the event, usually around 17:30 depending on number of drivers competing in the event.

Marshalling

All members competing must marshall a minimum of one event per year. Should they be unable to marshall the date of the event they are drawn to marshall they must find another member with whom to swap marshaling duties. This must be adhered to, to ensure safe and smooth running of all events throughout the year

Spectators

All spectators are welcome to attend the events however as vehicles are involved all children and animals must be kept under supervision at all times and attend the events at their own risk.
